Russell Coutts, nuevo patrón del BMW Oracle para la 33 edición de la Copa del América, se ha estrenado en el equipo a la caña del Extreme 40 que el desafío tiene en su base del Port America’s Cup en Valencia.

Desde que los del Golden Gate Yacht Club trajeran el pasado día 4 de febrero el nuevo catamarán a Valencia, la tripulación no ha dejado de realizar tests o entrenar. Entre los tripulantes que hemos podido ver al mismísimo James Spithill, pero hoy le ha tocado el turno al neozelandés Russell Coutts, que ha dado una auténtica lección de cómo se navega en condiciones extremas de ola y vientos fuertes.

Cada día vemos una tripulación nueva en el Extreme 40. ¿Qué nos encontraremos mañana?

Toda la actividad deportiva manifestada por Oracle contrasta radicalmente con la inactividad de Alinghi que, desde que exhibió por última vez sus dos catamaranes el pasado 17 de enero, los almacenó en la base del China Team y no los ha tocado desde entonces.

Russell Coutts, the new skipper of BMW Oracle for the 33rd edtition of the America's Cup, has been training, at the helm, on the team's Extreme 40, which the team has at their base in the America's Cup port in Valencia.

Since the Golden Gate Yacht Club brought the new catamaran last Febuary 4th to Valencia, the crew has not stopped carrying out tests or training. Amoung the crew we have seen James Spithill himself, but today it was the New Zealander Russell Coutts turn, who gave an authentic lession on how he sails in extreme wave conditions and strong winds.

Each day we see new crew on the Extreme 40. Who can we expect tomorrow?

All of the sporting activity shown by Oracle is radically contrasted by the inactivity by Alinghi, since they first exibited their two catamarans, last January 17th. The boats are being stored on the former China Team base and haven't been touched since.
